Haven't started planning your career yet? No worries!!! There are many people who go through the similar dilemma. Some people don't get enough guidance and there are others who accept any job/career that comes to them first. It's never too late to start.

Firstly lets define a career; What is a career? A quick search in google.com gives us various definitions, e.g.:

  1. "A career is a course of successive situations that make up some activity. One can have a sporting career or a musical career, but most frequently "career" in the 21st century references a working existence: the series of jobs or positions by which one earns one's money."

  2. "A goal in life that is fulfilled through a job or series of jobs."

  3. "A lifelong process, unique to each person; involves a sequence of work and leisure activities and includes career development and participation in occupations. A career choice should be an informed decision."

I personally like the last one, lets list the main points of the definition.

  • Lifelong process.
  • Sequence of work and leisure activities.
  • Informed decision.
If you read the last definition again you will see my point, that it is a process. It's a process of understanding what you like to do, what you want to become and how you will reach there.

Many a times people make a wrong decision and have a bad start with their career. Blame it on fate or destiny, but it's never too late to take a corrective action.

I hope this article helps you to identify the correct path in your career ahead.
