A couple of years ago I was introduced to "7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey". My friends told me a lot about it and wanted me to read that book for a great life. Based on their recommendations I purchased the book and started reading it. I was done reading that book in about 10 days and was excited to practice newly learnt habits in real life. Well, my practice lasted only for a couple of days; I was the same human being as before I had read the book once my concepts died off.

I am sure this happens to you as well. Do you ever wonder why is it that we are motivated to practice what we learn - but not much happens out of it? Do you ever wonder why we forget what we read and end up being the same that we already are?

There is nothing wrong with self help books that we read. "7 habits to highly effective people", "The Monk who sold his Ferrari", etc. are great books. The problem lies on how we read and use these books. The problem lies in the way we practice the contents of these books.

I discovered the real secret after I met a friend who I know is very thoughtful and a great source of inspiration to me personally. I happened to learn from him the real secret of using self help books. The secret is simple and it's called "Summarization".

The next page describes techniques to Summarize. Next Page >
